In all my years on this earth I have never experienced a double standard like the one that is becoming apparent on Facebook in the last few years, and never more so than in the last few months. The bias is very left leaning and Muslim positive. Pages run by left wingers and Muslims are allowed to have names like Cliven Bundy Must Die and Death to Israel, but pages like War Against Islam or Infidels Against Islam are repeatedly unpublished or taken down.
According to Facebook, this meme from a patriotic page is unacceptable and violates their community standards. It was reported by one person, immediately taken down by Facebook, the page unpublished and the poster banned for 24 hours.
This photo, from the pro Islam page Death to Israel, does not violate their community standards despite the fact that graphic violence is “not allowed” and that it was reported for containing graphic violence multiple times. They make a caveat that graphic photos or content intended to condemn violence may be permitted in their rules:
“Facebook has long been a place where people turn to share their experiences and raise awareness about issues important to them. Sometimes, those experiences and issues involve graphic content that is of public interest or concern, such as human rights abuses or acts of terrorism. In many instances, when people share this type of content, it is to condemn it. However, graphic images shared for sadistic effect or to celebrate or glorify violence have no place on our site.” Apparently the photo below, in their judgment, isn’t sadistic. It appears that pro-Islam, anti-Israel horror is allowed.
I wanted to include another meme here that was removed as offensive from a patriotic page. It was the depiction of the Prophet Mohammed with a goat’s head. However, I cannot because not only was it removed from Facebook, it was taken out of my personal files on my personal devices, both on my phone and on my tablet. That is inexcusable. Those are MY private files on MY device. Those files have nothing to do with Facebook. Yet they hacked/intruded into password protected files and removed them without notifying me and without my permission. They also removed this picture:
I was banned for twelve hours for posting that. Which part of that violates community standards? There is no copyright infringement. That is a photo taken by me with my camera and altered with a program that I legally own. Yet Facebook again intruded on my privacy and deleted it from my personal files on my personal devices and from the camera that took the photo. Another photo was also deleted that was taken on my own camera in my own home. It was a photo of my dog sitting on my lap. There was no writing on the photo, no nudity, no violence and no swearing.
Many times in the past photos or memes have been deleted that appear to be anti-Islam. This is not restricted to photos. At one point, as an admin on a political page, I told a troll to stop pretending to be literate and that he was a hypocrite. No profanity, no accusations, no insults. Facebook unpublished the page because that remark violated its community standards. I have seen a very clear pattern. Facebook deletes conservative posts and posts about Islam constantly, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NOT NEGATIVE. All it takes is one butthurt troll to report it, yet multiple people report photos such as the one above as containing violence and gore but they refuse to remove it. Their double standard is shocking. Their intrusion into our privacy is appalling. It must be made known. They need to be exposed as against free speech and against conservatives.
