Building off the Michael Brown controversy, on December 18, 2014, according to the United States Department of Justice, Obama signed another
decree executive order establishing a task force giving the federal government power over state and local law enforcement, to police the police and, and to recommend ways to build public trust between law enforcement and the communities they terrorize protect.
The Daily Caller quotes Obama as saying, “We have a great opportunity….to really transform how we think about community law enforcement relations.” He said he expects the media to help this plan along and to
lie sideline critics of the plan. He believes that racial profiling is a problem that needs to be addressed. His plan includes implementing training for officers in interactions with the gay/lesbian and transgender communities, the Muslim communities and other minority groups. He is following the progressive playbook, continuously expanding the federal government’s role in all aspects of Americans’ lives.
Public trust in the police has eroded over the last few years. With the advent of social media and alternative news sites reporting on the problems with police brutality and excessive force that the mainstream media ignores, awareness of these problems has expanded considerably. Stories of police misconduct abound, as well as horrifying instances of mind boggling abuse of power, like the well publicized Kelly Thomas case, where several police officers beat a homeless man to death and were found not guilty of any wrong doing.
In the wake of the Michael Brown shooting, surprisingly, there was a wave of support for the police. It was disturbing to many of us because it appeared to be a blind hero worship type of support; all of a sudden the boys and girls in blue could do no wrong. As time went on and more cases of police using excessive force at the very least and flat out murder at worst continued to be brought forth by police accountability sites, this wave of support began to change to a more reality based view.
Along with the militarization of the police and changes in their training to view the American public as the enemy rather than those they are sworn to protect, this federal takeover and centralization of the police force has been met with opposition from those who believe the powers of the state should supercede federal powers. Obama is attempting to expand his control by offering federally funded incentives for the states and local law enforcement to adopt his rules.
This is yet one more step in establishing a dictatorship and the destruction of the Constitution of the United States of America. The question is, America, what are we going to do about this? Are we just going to sit back and meekly become a ruled nation or are we going to stand up and say no? We are running out of time; we are not at the top of a slippery slope anymore. We are careening down it at breakneck speed. The time to act is now, before it gets any worse. What is it going to take to precipitate action? WAKE UP!
