Texas veterinarian Kristen Lindsey has gained overnight infamy and become one of the most reviled people in the country.
Lindsey lives in Brenham, Texas. On Wednesday she posted an appalling photo to her Facebook page of her happily smiling self holding up a dead cat with an arrow through its head. The caption on the photo says “My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s [sic] head! Vet of the year award ….gladly accepted!” The comments from her friends and family on the photo are equally appalling. Some of them are literally praising her, and when one person questioned the photo as being manipulated, her mother jumped into the conversation, bragging that she took the picture. The entire tone of the post was excitement and congratulatory.
One veterinarian who saw the photo observed that the cat did not appear to be dead yet when she was displaying it by holding it up by the arrow. He felt that from the way its front legs were positioned that it was still alive and no doubt suffering horribly.
The photo caused such a firestorm that Lindsey’s employer, an animal clinic in Brenham, fired her on the spot and covered her name on their sign with duct tape. The Texas Veterinary association issued a press release condemning her actions:
“We are saddened and disturbed by the unfortunate actions of this individual, and we remind Texas residents that this conduct is not reflective of the veterinary profession or of the veterinarians who strive to embody the words of the veterinarian’s oath every day.”
The veterinarian’s oath is as follows:
“Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.”
To make matters worse, the cat was identified as not a stray feral cat, but the beloved family pet belonging to an elderly couple. His name was Tiger. He was a friendly, outgoing cat who enjoyed riding on the front of a lawn tractor.
The Austin County Sheriff’s office is pursuing the case, but has said that they cannot prosecute the woman based on just the photo, they need to “authenticate” it. Apparently her written confession and the corroborating comments of her adoring family and friends are not sufficient.
There is so much that is wrong with this that one article cannot hold it all. This evil woman took an oath to protect and care for animals, not to shoot them with a bow and arrow and then gloat and brag about it and pose happily for a photo. Her immediate circle of family and friends appear to share her perverted psychopathy judging from their comments on the post.
The vile, brutal woman has since taken down her post, deactivated her facebook account, and gone to ground. She has not been available for comment to any media. In my opinion she better stay hidden for the rest of her life. She is a disgusting evil waste of oxygen, an oathbreaker and a disgrace to her profession and the human race. How on earth does a person who has taken enough time out of her life to complete the grueling requirements to become a veterinarian, which is not one bit easy, do something like this? There is something fundamentally wrong with her. The veterinarian profession is made up, by necessity, of warm, loving, compassionate people who dedicate themselves to making this a better world to live in. Kristen Lindsey is a vicious pyschopath with sociopathic personality traits. Her license to practice veterinary medicine must be revoked immediately never to be issued again. She is pure evil.
